The Business Department aims to build and develop the knowledge and skills sets of learners to enable them to progress successfully to University as well as to become more aware of how businesses operate around the world. The course offered also build the confidence of learners including being able to research, create formal reports, present findings to their peers and teachers and become all round more accomplished academics.
Business BTEC National Extended Certificate qualification is equivalent to one A level. Learners cover a wide range of various specialist Business subject areas including Finance, Marketing, Economics, International Trade and Recruitment and Selection. Assessment allows learners to build on their skills needed for Higher Education and includes written examinations, controlled assessments (in which a pre-release material is studied in advance) as well as internal assignments.
BTEC Business is one of the few post-16 qualifications that will help you succeed in your future career no matter what path you choose to take. The principles of business that you will learn about are common to every type of business organisation – from presenting innovative and creative marketing messages and developing effective interpersonal skills through to operating within a legal framework and using accurate accounting / financial methods.
The Pearson BTEC Level 3 Business qualification is a vocational and work-related qualification. Learners will have the opportunity to gain specific knowledge, understanding and skills which will prove incredibly useful to them in whatever business specialism they choose to enter in future. This is achieved through learners performing vocational tasks that encourage the development of appropriate work-related and transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, research and analysis, skills which are valued in both higher education and in the workplace.
