The last few years has been particularly tumultuous in the world of politics and young people are more engaged than ever. The political earthquakes of Brexit and Donald Trump have completely changed the world and A Level Politics provides a deep-dive into both the British and American system. Alongside these two studies, the third element of the A Level is to look at the philosophical ideas behind our politics (Socialism, Nationalism etc). Through these three areas, a student should come away equipped the tools to understand the changing world of the 21st Century.

Structure: 3 exams
Exam 1 – British Government and Politics
2 hours (A mixture of medium length ‘explain’ and essay style questions)
Exam 2 – USA Government and Politics
2 hours (A mixture of medium length ‘explain’ and essay style questions)
Exam 3 – Political Ideas
2 hours (A mixture of medium length ‘explain’ and essay style questions)
Trips: Tour of the Houses of Parliament and attend political talks at the London School of Economics
Possible Careers: Well respected across professions: Law, English, Journalism, History.
A very flexible subject that is valued across the humanities and even more science-focused career pathways.
